WE’RE READY TO START BUILDING OUR 2022 HABITAT HOUSE!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
After COVID and supply chain delays, we are finally ready to begin building the Greensboro Bar’s 2022 Habitat House at 1310 Pickard Street! Construction will begin on September 17, when we will raise the exterior walls and meet our homeowner family. At 10:00 that morning, we will have a kickoff ceremony at the site, to which all GBA members are invited and encouraged to attend. We have an immediate need for volunteers for the first two work crews on September 17 and September 24 (see links below).
Safe and stable housing is transformational for families who have loved ones with significant health challenges. For David Sosa-Ramos, diagnosed with MS in 2011, maneuvering his wheelchair from room to room quickly and safely and having access to a handicapped bathroom will be life-changing. Thanks to the Greensboro Bar Association, David and his wife, Martha, will move into a Habitat Greensboro home, meeting all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements. Their two grandchildren, Jani and Juan, will be living with them and are so excited that their grandparents will finally have a home that will enable David to be comfortable and for everyone in the family to have their own space.
The Greensboro Bar Association encourages its members to share in the excitement of providing Mr. Sosa-Ramos and his family with a safe and comfortable home by registering to volunteer on one (or more) of our various workdays throughout the coming months. Work begins at 7:45AM and concludes mid-afternoon. Lunch will be provided! The first two available workdays are set for September 17th and 24th.
Members can register for each workday using the following links. You will need to create a username and password to register.

No particular woodworking or construction skills are needed to participate, and training will be provided to the crew members on each workday prior to starting work. Habitat for Humanity will supply our members with tools and other materials, but we welcome members to bring along their own hammers, pencils, tape measures, or other useful items from their toolboxes!
As our kickoff approaches, the GBA Habitat for Humanity Committee will follow up with details about the full workday schedule. By way of our service, we look forward to showing Mr. Sosa-Ramos and his family how much support they have from the Greensboro Bar Association!
